What Kind of People Work Out at Planet Fitness? (Which One Are You?)

Introduction
If you’ve spent any time at Planet Fitness, you know it’s not just a gym…
👉 It’s a community of personalities.
Now, let me be clear—this is just what I’ve observed. I could be wrong (but I don’t think I am 😄).
See if you recognize yourself—or someone else—in this list.
1. The Mirror Watchers 👀
These folks spend more time looking at themselves than actually working out.
Now don’t get me wrong—checking your form is smart. But after every single set?
👉 Your body didn’t transform in the last 90 seconds.
Still… they look, adjust, flex a little… then look again.
2. The Dancer 🎧
You’ll know them when you see them.
They’ve got earbuds in, music blasting, and suddenly…
👉 It’s less “workout” and more “concert tour.”
They’re dancing between sets, vibing, completely in their own world.
Honestly? I don’t hate it.
At least they’re enjoying themselves.
3. The Multitasker 🔁
Now this one… this one tests your patience.
They’re doing a “circuit,” which is fine—but:
👉 They’re using 2–3 machines at once👉 And nobody else can touch them
Meanwhile, you’re standing there thinking:
“I’m over 50… I’ve got things to do while I can still do them… and waiting on you isn’t one of them.”
4. Mr. & Mrs. Serious 💪
These are the ones who came to WORK.
No talking
No scrolling
No distractions
Just:👉 Set → rest → next set → repeat
They don’t even look tired… but somehow they make YOU tired just watching them.
5. The Internet Café Crowd 📱
Let’s be honest…
Some people come to Planet Fitness for:👉 Wi-Fi👉 Phone time👉 Social media
You’ll see them:
Sitting on machines
Scrolling endlessly
Maybe doing one set every 15 minutes
At that point, you start wondering:
“Did you come to work out… or check your notifications?”
6. The New Starter (Respect These People) 🙌
These are the ones just getting started.
A little unsure
Watching others
Trying to figure things out
👉 This is where we ALL started.
And honestly? These are the most important people in the gym.
🧠 The Real Truth About the Gym
Here’s the bottom line:
👉 It doesn’t matter which one you are👉 What matters is that you SHOW UP
Because after 50:
Consistency beats perfection
Effort beats excuses
🔥 Simple Support That Helps You Stay Consistent
Let’s be real—showing up is only part of the equation.
Energy, recovery, and consistency matter too.
One option many men over 50 are using is a simple daily supplement to support energy and performance.

7. The Nosey Neighbor 👀 (That’s Me)
There’s one more personality I need to mention…
👉 The Nosey Neighbor. That would be me.
You can probably tell from this blog that I’ve spent a little time observing the people at Planet Fitness. The truth is, I don’t naturally love working out. To help pass the time and break the monotony, I pay attention to the different personalities around me.
Now don’t get it twisted—I still get my workout in. I stay focused and keep moving. But every now and then, I’ll look around and think:
“Now what category does this person fall into?”
😄
If you can relate, you might enjoy another one of my blogs where I talk about why I don’t always enjoy working out. (Check the related links below.)
A Real Moment of Honesty
As a “nosey neighbor,” I’ll admit—there are some beautiful women at Planet Fitness, and yes, that can be motivating.
But as a born-again Christian, that’s where I draw the line.
👉 Respect, discipline, and self-control matter more than anything else.
And if you’re a Christian, you may also enjoy some of my faith-based blogs—I’ve included those in the related links below as well.
What I Actually Like (and Love) About Planet Fitness
Even though I joke about not liking workouts, there are definitely things I appreciate:
✔ I like the diversity of people
Different backgrounds
Different body types
Different fitness levels
👉 It’s real life—not perfection
✔ I especially enjoy seeing couples working out together. There’s something motivating about that kind of support and teamwork.
And What Do I LOVE?
No hesitation here…
👉 The hydro-massage machine and the massage chairs.
Now THAT is something I look forward to.
Final Thought
Whether you’re a mirror watcher, a dancer, a serious lifter… or even a nosey neighbor like me…
👉 The important thing is simple:
You showed up.
And after 50, that’s half the battle.
