A Trip I’ll Never Forget (For the Wrong Reason)
Back in 2018, I went on a weekend golf trip to Myrtle Beach with some of my work buddies. We had it all planned out—golf from Friday through Sunday, good conversation, and just enjoying the break.
But after the first round on Friday… everything changed.
My lower back—specifically around the L5 area—went crazy on me.
And when I say crazy, I mean extreme, stop-you-in-your-tracks pain.
I didn’t play another round the rest of the weekend.
When Pain Hits and You Don’t Know Why
Looking back, I probably should have gone straight to the emergency room.
But this was the first time something like this had ever happened to me.
I kept thinking:
“Maybe it’ll get better.”
It didn’t.
When Pain Changes Your Life
As time went on, the pain didn’t just linger—it got worse. To the point where it affected my ability to work. Eventually, I made a decision I never expected:
I retired from my job and was approved for disability. That was a tough season.
My Turning Point: Chiropractic Care
At my worst, I could barely walk.
That’s when I started chiropractic treatment—and I can honestly say, it changed things for me. I still receive treatment today at Omni Wellness Center Over time:
My mobility improved
My pain became manageable
I started getting my life back
Now, I’ve been diagnosed with chronic arthritis in my lower spine, so I’m not “perfect.”
But I’m functional, active, and moving forward.
Does Chiropractic Care Work?
Some people ask that question.
All I can tell you is this:
It worked for me.
That doesn’t mean every situation is the same—but in my case, it made a real difference.
Getting Back to Movement
Recently, I joined Planet Fitness and upgraded my membership.
One of the best decisions I made.
Why?
Because of the:
HydroMassage chairs
Massage chairs
I’ll tell you straight—those chairs feel close to a chiropractor session.
After a workout, they help loosen things up and keep me moving.
What I’ve Learned About Staying Active After 50
Here’s the truth:
Your body will change
You may deal with pain
Things won’t always be like they were at 21
But that doesn’t mean you stop.
It means you adjust.
For me, that looks like:
Listening to my body
Staying consistent with treatment
Using tools (like massage and light exercise)
Keeping a routine
Final Thoughts
That golf trip didn’t go the way I planned.
But it taught me something important:
You can face setbacks… and still find a way forward.
If you’re dealing with back pain or recovery, don’t ignore it.
Get help. Stay consistent. Keep moving.
